In PS/SS, Harry receives a letter through the post (Muggle post) inviting him to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is important to point out that the first letter sent to Harry from Hogwarts was through the Dursleys’ post; it was only after Uncle Vernon wouldn’t let Harry read his letter that the Hogwarts letters started arriving in unusual ways. In GoF, the Dursleys receive a letter from the Weasleys, through the post, asking their permission to let Harry go to the Quidditch World Cup and stay at the Burrow for the rest of the summer. This time, the letter did not display anyone’s name, but it was still an invitation for him that arrived through the Dursleys’ mail. In DH, Bill and Fleur will send their wedding invitation through the post, inviting Harry and his family. In PS/SS, the magic carpet reference was a joke. In GoF, Harry learns that wizards actually do ride on magic carpets or at least in the UK they did until there was an embargo passed. In DH, Harry will find a magic carpet and use it. Where would Harry find the magic carpet? He’ll find it in the home of a very old wizarding family that dates back before the embargo: the Blacks. Now that Harry is the sole owner of 12 Grimmauld Place, he can freely roam around the house without restriction. Why would Harry want to roam around the house besides curiosity? Because after Hermione figures out that R.A.B. stands for Regulus A. But why would Harry want to use a magic carpet as transportation? Harry, Ron, and Hermione are planning to ditch school and their families without a word to anyone because the less people that know about their quest the better. This then takes out the option of Apparition because for long distances, Apparating becomes dodgy and it’s near to impossible if you want to go somewhere you’ve never been. Couldn’t they use brooms? Well yes, they could and probably will but there would be a shortage of brooms per person. Only Harry and Ron own brooms, so that would mean that Hermione would have to double up with one of them, which no matter what, would be uncomfortable. Harry owns a Firebolt, which is a faster broom than Ron’s Cleansweep. If Hermione where to double up with Ron, taking into consideration the change of weight, Ron’s broom would travel even slower than Harry’s, which would be a disadvantage if they were in the middle of an aerial attack and lengthen their traveling time. How about using the Knight Bus then? The biggest problem with the Knight Bus (which is PUBLIC transportation) is the fact that they are trying to remain low-key. The magic carpet not only solves the broom per person issue, but it allows them to use another form of transportation that will not potentially splinch them, become useless when confronted with geographic boundaries (the Knight Bus cannot cross bodies of water or mountain ranges), or reveal their whereabouts while traveling long distances.是否可以使用骑士公共汽车呢？使用骑士公共汽车（这是“公共”的交通工具）的最大问题在于他们想保持低调，尽量不为人知。使用飞毯不仅解决了扫帚不够的问题，同时也使他们得以使用另外一种不会给他们带来潜在不便的交通工具。飞毯不会在他们面临地理分界时毫无作用（骑士公共汽车不能跨越水域和山脉），也不会在他们长途旅行时暴露他们的行踪。
